Society

No business is an island. We’ve all taken from society to get where we are today, so it’s only right we give back.

Here’s how we do it.

Education

  • We actively engage with the educational sector through universities and local schools including: Barnsley College, Darton College, Magdalen School, Oxford Brooks, Oxford University, UCL, Leeds Beckett, Lancaster University, University of Central Lancashire and the University of the West of England
  • We support work experience, apprenticeships and special projects every year
  • We actively support and saw 4 Webmarteers graduate on the PIF Level 5 NVQ Graduate Management Programme last year
  • We consider knowledge development to be one of the cornerstones of our growth strategy, YellowPrint, and plan to increase our investment year on year

Environment

  • We’ve invested in environmental practices and ISO 14001 conformance
  • We recently acquired an oxygen farm in Scotland to assist with carbon offsetting
  • There’s 156 solar panels across the roofs of various Yellow sheds
  • We’re carbon negative by a cool 2252 people’s worth of carbon emissions
  • And we continuously look to explore more environmentally friendly methods of production – and use them
  • Our Community and Charity Cash Policy (CCCP) invests interest from cash reserves into charity and good causes throughout every year – with over £25,000 being given last year to 34 beneficiaries and approaching £500,000 to hundreds over the years
  • We encourage Webmarteers to do good by providing one paid day per year to work in a charitable organisation along with a contribution of £250 to the charity itself
  • We also donate £300 to charity in relation to referrals made as part of our referral scheme
  • All proceeds from our speaking events are donated to charity

Charity

Local Government

  • Our CEO actively participates in the Barnsley Economic Partnership working with business and the local authority to help boost employment. 538 new jobs have been created in the past 2 years.
  • Support and participate in UKTI events to help inspire and encourage business
  • Advise Government on employee engagement issues and work with political parties to up this on their agenda

Webmarteers

  • Encourage and actively support Webmarteers to improve themselves intellectually, emotionally and financially through a wide range of initiatives
  • Support all staff by creating a fun yet supportive environment, through initiatives such as free food Friday, beer o’clock on a Friday, sponsored charity work, subsidised counselling, personal development and gym memberships
  • Increase the knowledge of Webmarteers and our partners by investment in professional qualifications, and technical/sector oriented training
  • Continue to develop our inspiring workplace – which led to a finalist position in the 2014 British Institute of Facilities Management awards
  • Operate a transparent and fair profit scheme where a large proportion of our profits are re-distributed to Webmarteers. Last year saw staff benefit from a payment equating to 43.7% of their annual salary. Boom!
