The Webmart Charitable Trust is delighted to announce this years main donations to selected charities. The Webmart Charitable Trust (WCT), set up and partially funded as part of a profit share scheme operated by WEBMART Ltd, has today pledged £54,900 to carefully screened and selected good causes. This is in addition to 2008 donations of £22,280 and WEBMART's own donation to The Printers Charitable Trust of £5,000. The WCT was inundated with applications from a number of good causes, all of which were worthy of funding, however a scoring system for selection was used to grade the relevance to the WCT Articles of Association.

The UK based organisations to benefit are;

• ORBS in Nottingham (for the development of further research into breast cancer/reconstructive surgery)

• PACE in Aylesbury (children with sensory and motor disorders)

• RNIB in Coventry (towards a new school and equipment for young children)

• The Jericho Foundation in Birmingham (vocational print and promotion training for socially disadvantaged young people)

• BTCV Thames & Chilterns (Conservation pioneering as Bicester Green Pioneers for 16-26 year olds)

• The National Star College based near Cheltenham (to sponsor a bedroom for young people aged 16-25 from all over the UK with a physical disability, acquired brain injury, and associated learning, sensory, medical, emotional and behavioural difficulties)

The overseas based organisations to benefit are;

• Inter Care based in Leicester (Medical Aid for Africa utilising returned prescription medicines)

• Advanced Alchemy (funding for 2009 for the WEBMART Business School in Ethiopia)

• Building a Future - administered in Peru (for the provision of equipment, facilities and funds for programmes of physical, educational,
vocational and other indoor and outdoor activities to those in need)

Geraldine Lay, one of three Trustees and committee member for The WCT said "the selection process was both heart wrenching as well
as rewarding. Applications were received from a diverse array of potential beneficiaries all of whom represented very worthwhile causes, however the committee selected recipients based on a mixture of UK and overseas based projects. All recipients had to demonstrate a sustainable use for the donation with a reasonable mix of recipient gender, age, social background and location.”

Simon Biltcliffe, managing director of WEBMART added: “We’re all chuffed to bits to be helping such top notch causes. Part of our ethical beliefs at WEBMART is that doing well for yourself is only meaningful if it's not to the detriment of others, and these donations are a large part of putting that into practice”

The Webmart Charitable Trust was founded in 2008 as part of WEBMART’s commitment to do well, and do good. For more information, and to apply for a donation from the next round of funding likely to be later in 2009, visit the trust website at www.webmartcharitabletrust.org.uk
