Seven shortlisted finalists will hope they’re in fine voice on Thursday, March 5th when they will have just two minutes to impress a formidable panel of judges, including Julie Meyer, Founder of First Tuesday and Founder and CEO of Ariadne Capital and Will Ghali, Marketing Director at Cobra Beer with their business idea in the Oxford final of the Idea Idol competition to be held at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford.

Now in its 5th year and open to all Oxford University and Oxford Brookes students, Idea Idol is a competition that identifies the brightest entrepreneurial ideas and the tycoons of tomorrow. So whether it was a Eureka! moment, scribbles on the back of an envelope or the result of long, hard planning, the competition may put budding entrepreneurs on the road to realising their dreams.

Idea Idol is the flagship event of Oxford Entrepreneurs, Oxford University’s student society for entrepreneurs which now has over 4500 student members, making it the largest university enterprise society in Europe.

The judging panel comprises:
· Julie Meyer, Founder of First Tuesday and Founder and CEO of Ariadne Capital
· Will Ghali, Marketing Director at Cobra Beer
· Ian Robin, Director of Skype for Business
· Ian Carnegie-Brown, MD of Investment Banking at Credit Suisse

WEBMART is supporting the local event as part of its mentoring process with the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford. Managing Director, Simon Biltcliffe, is no stranger to helping the tycoons of tomorrow – back in 2006 he was a panellist for a Dragon’s Den inspired event “The Pitch” for young entrepreneurs. He, along with fellow panel members Nazim Manji and Christopher Johnston, invested the £85,000 needed for the winner to take his product to market. Since then the winner of the contest, Richard Boon, is now a fully fledged WEBMARTEER after accepting the job offer from WEBMART.
