WEBMART, one of Britain’s fastest–growing SMEs and a technology-led leader in outsourced print management, has won the ‘Growth Strategy of the Year’ category in the European Business Awards.
WEBMART, one of Britain’s fastest–growing SMEs and a technology-led leader in outsourced print management, has won the ‘Growth Strategy of the Year’ category in the European Business Awards. This is the third award in 2009 alone for the British-owned and privately funded business which has seen turnover more than double in less than three years to GBP 37 million, with a 28% rise over 2008 in the year to date.
Explaining how WEBMART is bucking the gloomy economic trends, Managing Director Simon Biltcliffe explained:
“The downturn has created fantastic opportunities for companies prepared to go out and grab them. We''ve decided to invest faster in our software development and marketing to take advantage of the recession. Each EUR1 invested now is worth EUR2 in relative competitive advantage as our rivals are cutting their investment, so by building an increased strategic advantage now we will benefit disproportionately in the inevitable economic upturn begins."
WEBMART’s commercial proposition is also highly attractive in recessionary times. Most companies buy print in one form or another. WEBMART offers businesses of all size the opportunity to buy top quality print, marketing and promotional materials at highly cost-effective prices without affecting quality, volumes and delivery times. For companies who recognize the need to trim costs yet who need to maintain and even increase their marketing profile in challenging times, WEBMART offers a compelling solution. The European Business Award judges in Rome recognized this.
The company, based in Bicester, Oxfordshire, has 36 employees and branch offices in Yorkshire and Scotland, but its web-based trading platform gives it a global reach. A state-of-the art software platform that enables customers worldwide to buy print online from the WEBMART website. Using sophisticated software and a team of highly experienced negotiators, planners and customer-facing executives; WEBMART has effectively become the RyanAir of print management companies – without the bad attitude. Essentially a peer-to-peer buying and selling platform, the WEBMART platform matches customer demand with capacity from a host of suppliers, pinpointing the best price/specification available at any given time.
“We don’t believe that our customers should have to wait for estimates. By using one of the most sophisticated print management systems in the world, we can provide instant online estimates AND the best prices for print. Our processes drive us to continually deliver the best print, from great suppliers, at the very best price, Simon added. Moreover, the company is acutely aware of its environmental responsibilities:“
“Success and sustainability can go hand in hand. WEBMART takes our impact on the environment very seriously and has an active policy of reducing the carbon footprint of our commercial activity,” adds Simon Biltcliffe. “We are committed to further rapid growth, but we’re committed to winning through best practice, proving great value and having fun. That’s essentially the back story of our growth strategy, and a path which I happily recommend to anyone in these difficult times.”
