An Intaglio process, combined with printing on rolls of paper that is ideally suited for longer run work, typically 500,000 copies and upwards at high speed.
Gravure printing cylinders carry more ink to the paper than offset printing plates and provides particularly intense, fine colour reproduction, making it ideal for projects where colour is especially critical.
Gravure presses can successfully print fine colour on paper as light as directory stocks because less tension is put on the web, and the gravure process subjects the paper to less ink tack and less moisture than web-offset printing.
The machinery comes in many sizes and formats mostly for Magazines, Catalogues, Retail Flyers and Newspaper Supplements.
The majority of presses can print in four colour process, some with an extra unit for a 5th colour and many come with inline finishing equipment to enable Complete Magazines/Supplements to come off the presses direct to the Newstrade.

The training will involve a process workshop, explaining the technical element of the chosen process, coupled with a factory tour demonstrating how a job would migrate through departments including administration, pre-press, printing, finishing and despatch and post production wash up.
