Webmart organises food parcels for local community over festive period

By Webmart

A quick summary

At Webmart, we’ve made no secret of how important it is to us to support our local community and charitable initiatives. We are delighted to say that over the festive period we were able to work in conjunction with the Darton West Ward Alliance to provide food parcels to disadvantaged families in our local community around the northern office in Barnsley, South Yorkshire.

food-parcels-WebmartBack in November, we heard about local families near our northern office finding Christmas particularly hard this year and we were keen to support them however we could. When hearing about the fantastic voluntary initiative organised by the Darton West Ward Alliance, we decided to get involved through sponsoring the efforts.

Alongside the Alliance, which is made up of local residents and three ward councillors, we were able to organise and provide 70 food parcels for disadvantaged families in the community. Distributed through a local school in the area, the program was well received.

This came as part of the overall £30,000 we were fortunately able to donate to worthy causes in December. An annual tradition for Webmart, the funds come from our CCCP (Community and Charitable Cash Pot). Particularly after such a challenging year, we are happy to have been able to continue the tradition.

As chief Webmarteer Bilty put it: “The pot was created to help people who need it. It has been a tough year for us all and having this pot to continue our ethos of helping others and doing good wherever we can as a business has been even more important this year than ever.”
