Printing & Paper Costs – Webmart 14th March 22

Printing & Paper Costs

14th March 2022

Due to continued market volatility, costs across all supply chains have increased further. In order to ensure continuity, costs across a number of our services will be changing.

The impact of mill closures and strikes at key paper manufacturers has caused paper production volumes to significantly decrease by approximately 3 million tonnes over the last year. This, coupled with continued high demand for pulp for packaging and rising energy costs has contributed to additional cost-push and demand-pull inflation.

Any projects with out-of-date estimates will need to be requoted by your usual Webmart team. For contracted rates, we have already been in touch with you to confirm the impact and advise on any strategies to mitigate the increases. For new offline projects, print production costs are expected to be 30-40% higher than last year, with energy surcharges also adding around £60 per tonne across all paper stocks.

We continue to monitor the situation closely and will provide further updates in due course. If you have any questions at all, please contact your usual Webmarteer!
