Paul Devlin has taken his angling equipment business from humble sole-trader, market stall beginnings and grown it into a hugely successful multichannel retailer employing 90 full-time staff.
His megastore – The Glasgow Angling Centre – holds the biggest range of fishing equipment in Europe, with two additional Chapman’s Angling stores meeting customer demand in Scunthorpe and Hull. The company’s website presence, www.fishingmegastore.com, has earned the accolade of Fly Fisher’s best mail order company three years in a row.
Since 2004, Paul and his team have used Webmart as a one-stop shop for all their high volume print requirements, including catalogues, inserts, loyalty cards, banners, mailings and flyers.
How we help
After printing catalogues with self-covers for many years, Webmart suggested using a different paper stock for the cover. This enabled a better first impression, with higher image resolution, better resilience to handling and a more premium look and feel. The small cost increase has been balanced by savings from printing the inside pages in bulk, changing only the cover design for the three editions per year.
Account Manager Norman Macaulay’s customer service goes beyond just print production though. The client frequently uses inserts in relevant fishing magazines to promote his business. Norman developed contacts at the publisher there and now takes care of the issue dates, delivery addresses and delivery deadlines, saving time for the client’s in-house team.
Webmart’s ability to source immediate capacity has also proven helpful, with tight turnaround times delivered on the production of sale catalogues and Open Weekend mailings.
